 Introduction
This is part of a two 8000m peak summit attempt. Prior to an ascent on K2
(8611m), I will be attempting to climb Broad Peak (8047m). This will
provide a safer acclimatization period and will hopefully stand us in good
stead for the attempt on K2. Both mountains will see the use of the same
base camp at Concordida over the 3 months we are expected to be in

The Route
Base Camp will be established on the medial moraine of the Goodwin-Austen
Glacier at 4900m. Three or four further camps will be established. Snow or
rock scrambling weaves through the lower slopes onto the crest of the
spur. Higher up the route is entirely on glacier slopes, with occasional
ice walls above 7500m. A well-fined ridge leads from the col at 7800m to
